Market-Rate Portland Area
Pay Scales DOE

Start Date: Monday, April 8, 2019.

Our Hair Isn't Pointy.
You do not need a Computer Science degree.

We will post detailed requirements and job descriptions next week.

All three positions are Work-For-Hire. That means that your employment contract will assign copyright for your code and all other creative works to Portland Custom Software Development.

For us to hire for all three positions is contingent on our $500,000.00 crowfunding campaign being fully funded.

That will cover your pay for one year.

After that your salary will be paid for through charitable grants
once the Internal Revenue Service approves the application for the
501(c)(3) Tax-Deductible Non-Profit Corporation we will form
in mid-October of this year.

In the event the IRS needs more time we will have a second crowdfunding campaign in January 2020.

Our campaign will take place on either IndieGoGo or KickStarter but we haven't yet decided which one. There are strengths and weaknesses to each that we need to study a bit more.

Update: We're going with Indiegogo.

We're aiming to raise enough funds to cover competitive Portland, Oregon market-rate salaries for three Engineers, their equipment and office expenses as well as a modest salary for me, for one year. By the end of the year our IRS 501(c)(3) Tax-Deductible Non-Profit Organization application should be approved, at which point we can apply for charitable grants.

At the time of this writing we expect our funding goal to be $550,000.00.

Since June, Portland Custom Software Development has been leasing a desk for me at downtown Portland's NedSpace co-working facility. This has been working out really well.

Quite likely we'll lease an office for our new staff; I will continue to use the desk I've got now as I know very well that no one can type correctly when The Boss is around.
